This reminds me of the local area network within a switch. One point of connection always suffer from scalability(contention).

I don't have an electrical engineering background - would somebody be able to explain what entity's frequency is low and why is it responsible for having high power characteristics?

Power and Frequency are inversely related. Frequency is how often we switch between voltage levels (or in this case, how often data is transferred).

When you have multiple nodes connected to the same wire/bus, there will be higher electrical load or resistance (more nodes, more silicon). This would consume more power to send voltage through or inversely, reduce frequency.
