How would you determine what's the best you can do in practice? It seems as though the high watermarks techniques listed on slide 41 only give a rough approximation. Or is that really the best you can do?

@Holladay, in practice, the rough approximations from 41 and results of the performance monitoring tools are good enough. Rarely can you achieve the true maximum performance, and so in practice it is sufficiently valuable to be able to identify the most limiting constraints and optimize accordingly.
