One interesting thing to note in this example is that the cost-zones assignment version has increased the work done by each thread, but the total time taken for each thread to complete decreases. The time spent reading data has gone down more than the time spent processing has gone up, resulting in a net decrease. Ultimately, if our machine only has this one task to work on, this is desirable, though if the machine were expected to multi-task, it might not be, as we could prefer that our processors be free to execute other tasks.
