Are there types of scenarios where a mesh would have better performance than a crossbar?

"Best performance" doesn't seem to be a well defined term, which we have seen as an underlying theme throughout this course. We are always talking about performance with respect to a program/suite of programs(benchmarks)/specific application. I can see a scenario in which a mesh might perform better with respect to a particular program that has highly local communication (between adjacent processors).

We choose the best topology based on the use case. If we were talking about "general performance" for common use cases, then that would be an interesting discussion. Although it might be quite subjective.
