Multi-threading as described on the previous slide were hardware threads. On this slide multi-threading is made out to be like pthreads or some similar construct ala multi-core execution. To the programmer it looks the same, ie. they're all threads interleaved amongst one another, but the difference is in multi-threaded execution the CPU interleaves threads within a core.
