How do cache protocols change with different topologies? It doesn't seem like a broadcast protocol would be efficient in something like a Tree topology. In fact it doesn't seem like a broadcast protocol would be efficient in anything but a Bus or Ring topology. Would other interconnect topologies use primarily directory based cache protocols?

@tchitten. Just to be clear, make sure the coherence protocol (MSI, MESI, etc.) is separated from the details of the implementation of the protocol (forms of snooping, directory based, etc.)
