The communication-to-computation ratio is saturated more quickly as processors are added and as the size of the problem instance decreases. To take advantage of more processors it may be necessary to increase the size of the problem instance, which, depending on the problem, might not be a trivial task. Benchmarking, as in the chart on this slide, can help determine what the best instance size and number of processors is for any given problem. In this case, the best speedup (~24x) is achieved with 32 processors on a large instance of the problem.
